Lewis and Clark Sight the Pacific Ocean

The Lewis and Clark Expedition reached the Pacific Ocean near present-day Astoria, Oregon, after an 18-month journey from St. Louis. The expedition, commissioned by President Jefferson after the Louisiana Purchase, mapped the American West.
