21st Amendment Ratified

The 21st Amendment was ratified, repealing the 18th Amendment and ending Prohibition. It is the only amendment in U.S. history to repeal a previous amendment, and the only one ratified by state conventions rather than state legislatures.

Why It Matters

The repeal of Prohibition demonstrated that the Constitution is a living document that can correct its own mistakes through the democratic amendment process.
