Battle of Quebec
American forces under General Richard Montgomery and Colonel Benedict Arnold launched an unsuccessful assault on Quebec City during the Revolutionary War. Montgomery was killed and Arnold was wounded in the failed attempt to bring Canada into the revolution.
Why It Matters
The defeat at Quebec ended American hopes of adding Canada to the revolutionary cause and shaped the northern boundary of what would become the United States.
