Lucy Stone Born

Lucy Stone was born in West Brookfield, Massachusetts. She became a leading suffragist and abolitionist, the first Massachusetts woman to earn a college degree, and the first married American woman to keep her own surname. She founded the American Woman Suffrage Association.
